A Tasmanian professor has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Natural Sciences for his research into diabetes and the human metabolism.
Professor Michael Clarke has been presented with the degree by the Queen of Denmark at a ceremony in Copenhagen. He is the head of Biochemistry at the University of Tasmania and also a senior researcher at the Menzies Institute. Professor Clarke says he was not expecting any recognition. "Not at all, was completely out of the blue," he said. "Although I must say, I probably had some inside running because I'd been collaborating with workers at the University of Copenhagen since 1984 and well, I... you know... I never thought it would lead to anything like this," he said. Comments (3)
