Diabetes University
Another health issue affecting nearly 21-million Americans is diabetes.  That's seven percent of the population.  The American Diabetes Association held a conference today called Diabetes University.  Its goal is to educate diabetics and their families about new information and research.

"We hope that people here today take away information they haven't had before because it's a lot of new information on food and diet and just their general health, their eyes and their feet... How to take care of themselves if those, uh, that they are affected by diabetes or those around them are affected by diabetes."

Here are a few facts about diabetes:
Diabetes is the fifth deadliest disease in the United States. 
In Georgia, it's the sixth most common cause of death.
One in three Americans born in 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime.
