Diabetes Testing Strips May Give Bad Readings
A unit of Bayer AG recalled diabetes test strips used with its Contour TS Blood Glucose Meter because they may result in 5 percent to 17 percent higher blood glucose readings, the Food and Drug Administration said. Bayer Diabetes Care said that the strips were produced on new equipment and that the company had fixed the problem. Fifty-three production lots were affected by the recall, totaling 230,000 bottles of strips, a Bayer spokeswoman said. Details about the strips’ product code and lot numbers were posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s Web site,
